1) Main Issue/Problem in the Case – here you will state what you feel is the main issue (or issues) that can be found in the case. What is the main question that must be addressed by the company in the case you are assigned?

2) Case Background – here you provide a brief summary of the relevant information from the case simply to set the background for the information to follow. This IS a summary of information already presented to you. This IS the ONLY place where you will be summarizing information. The other three sections listed here will be your opinions based on the information presented in the case.

3) Possible Alternatives – here you will present alternative courses of action that could be taken to address the main issue you just told me about. Keep in mind that some cases specifically state possible alternatives but many cases do not. If alternatives are stated in the case do NOT feel that you have to be bound to only those alternatives. You may have ideas about other possible alternatives that could resolve the problem. You need to present enough details about each of your stated alternatives so that I know what you are trying to say. I think it is often good to state an alternative and then state the pros

and cons of that alternative.

4) Your recommendations – note this section in NOT a conclusions section. I do not want you to re-summarize the case. This is your opinion and your choice of what should be done to fix the main problem in the case. This recommendation MUST be one of your already stated alternatives (or could be more than one in some cases). You also need to state your reasons for choosing this action.

Create your own charts or graphs to include in the report to help you better demonstrate you points. For example, if you are telling me about the company’s current market share, show me a market share graph. If you are discussing the sales of your company over the last five years, show it to me in a graph. Do not simply cut and paste charts or graphs off a web site, this is academic dishonesty.
