I currently reside in San Antonio Texas, and I had a recent experience in two convince stores, that were polar opposites. The convince store, TETCO, by my house is very open, with a huge assortment of products from food to tire caps and everything in between. There are two cameras inside and three outside and there are always one or two police hanging around on breaks. The site is well lit and the employees have been working there for years. I do live in a low crime area and the threat of an armed robbery is low.was on the other side of town, a high crime area, and stopped by a TETCO, one that I have been to several times, and that store was worlds apart from the one by my home. First there in one camera inside, an older model, and a TV screen that shows that is coming and going. There is the same camera system outside, with just one camera. The cashier sits behind a 2 inch plexi glass wall, with a little cut out to shuffle money, cigarettes and scratch tickets. They had a small assortment of products, most had dust on them, and the lighting was horrible. I have noticed over the years that I have never seen the same employee more than twice, so I ask the guy behind the counter why that was. He said that the store has been robbed at least 4-5 times a year, and it’s always when the employees change shifts so nobody feels that it’s worth the minimum wage paycheck. Can’t say I blame him. Two totally different experiences from the same chain of stores. I’m not sure why TETCO does not make the same standard across the board for all of its stores. Having up to date surveillance cameras, signs posted explaining that the venue has security measures in place, and not making the same mistake when it comes to past robberies, and better lighting, all seem like it would be an easy
