Suppose you have been hired as a strategic management consultant by Tim Cooke.

Where Apple clearly has enjoyed success – and lots of it – across its history; Tim and his senior management team have become increasingly aware that past success is not a good predictor at all for future success. As a result, they now realize that there is the need to both take a hard look at who the company is now (and who they are not) in order to begin to determine where they should go next, and how they will get there. Therefore, you have been hired to prepare a comprehensive organizational assessment of Apple.

The process you normally follow as a consultant is to spend one full week taking a deep dive into a specific area, writing up your findings on each area independently - and discussing them with your colleagues - then preparing an executive summary of your insights .... one that, in the end, ties together and presents your findings on the organization as a whole. That way, management has a quick high-level summary of the key findings they will need to really understand the issues and then take strategic action.
