Using the same organization as a basis, has the organization always operated on an ethical basis in order to remain profitable? Give specific examples to support your stance, and respond to your classmates' posts.
1. An organization that has been in existence since I could remember would be Wal-Mart. I remember when I was little we would also go to Wal-Mart, which was 20 minutes away from home, rather than the chief's supermarket in my hometown because Wal-Mart has much more selection and it is cheaper. I would assume that Wal-Mart has been able to survive despite all of the challenges it has experienced because of its reputation, its wide range of products, and the low cost of products. The products Wal-Mart sells include food, beauty, home decor, hunting supplies, and much more. Customers love to save money on all of their buys, and Wal-Mart has many bargains. "Wall-mart has opted to ensure that its prices are as low as can be. This focus has enabled the company to promise 'always low prices, always,'". The more savings, the more repeat customers and more purchases that will be made. They listen to the needs and wants of the customers, and they implement change, making them one of the biggest organizations in the United States. "The sheer size of wall-mart attests to the success of its strategy and the benefits to the economy. Growing into the largest business on the planet indicates that it is accurately interpreting customer needs and efficiently serving them,” Wal-Mart has survived despite the radical growth in technology because they implement change that is needed to strive past competitors. Having the availability for customers to choose self-check out not only lets them choose the pace of the process, but it also is time and self-sufficient. Wal-Mart also stays afloat within political and economic change by treating all customers equally. "the conclusions reached are that wall-mart fits very well within a pattern of retail innovation and displacement, by which customers benefit from new systems of retail, that wall-mart is very much in line with the rest of the American retail sector in terms of benefits and pay,". Leadership is an essential asset to the success of wall-mart. They choose motivated leaders to direct wall-mart to the path of success by taking risks and challenging each other and the organization itself. "From the beginning, Sam Walton surrounded himself with the kind of people who had big ideas and weren't afraid to take risk and bring those ideas to life. Wal-Mart has elevated and been guided by leaders like these, who constantly inspire us to achieve the next level of success,". Wal-Mart also uses ethical policies to ensure that they are making the correct decisions and to remain profitable. "Global ethics is responsible for promoting Wal-Mart’s culture of integrity. This includes developing and upholding our polices for ethical behavior for all of our stakeholders everywhere we operate,". They keep ethics in their operations by making radical and ethical decisions, providing confidential systems, and leading ethical education and communication systems.
2. Pepsi company has been around since the early 1900's. Growing up this was one of my favorite soft drinks, even until today. The company has managed to survive despite all the external changes because of their vision of performing with purpose. Their goal is to deliver top-tier financial performance while creating sustainable value for all stakeholders. Pepsi believes that delivering for their consumers and customers, protecting our environment, sourcing with integrity and investing in our employees are not simply good things to do, but that these actions fuel returns and position PepsiCo for long-term, sustainable growth. The way that Pepsi has been able to survive goes back to what they focus on as an organization. Their organizational culture drives them to fuel out their values and do it in such a way that it fuels their performance as an organization. The way they have always done it is by focusing in human sustainability, environmental sustainability and talent sustainability. Pepsi recognizes that leadership is essential to their business. Pepsi gives associates the chance to grow professionally through regular training and career development tools to help them achieve their performance objectives and help make the company a success.
