We compare the proportion who indicated that it was “very important” to be born in this country to be American for two GSS 2014 groups: respondents (1) born in the United States (native born) and (2) not born in the United States (foreign born). Test the research hypothesis that a higher proportion of native-born respondents than foreign-born respondents indicated being born in the United States was “very important” to be American. Set alpha at .05.
