Please tutors, this is important to me. It is a critical essay which would require a comprehensive work worth a research so I can have a variety of words when doing mine. The reading and research for critical essays is divided into 5 parts (Bibliography, review of research, arrangement, invention and style.). The results of reading and research will be produced in written form as a first analysis of the artifact in its critical, historical, and cultural context research. The subject I am using is John F. Kennedy's " Inaugural address", which will be examined for its principal features of arrangement, invention, and style, in preparation for writing the critical essay and may be about a number of pages depending andnot includingarrangement outline and bibliography. The paper can follow this order if possible so I can use it for mine.

I. Bibliography

II. Review of Research

III. Arrangement

IV. Invention

V. Style

Bibliography

A bibliography differs from a list of references, or works cited, in that it contains all the titles found that might be relevant to the study or include useful information, and not just those titles. The bibliography can be in any style for a rhetoric critical essay but if possible could be in MLA.

I included this Scope of the Bibliography for better understanding as research into a text begins with the speech or other artifact, the speech situation, the audience addressed by the speech, the speaker, the historical context, and any existing criticisms. The resulting bibliography can easily be more than ten titles. Pleasealso include relevant information. Please look first for whole books on the historic period surrounding John F. Kennedy which is the speech I would like to use; next for peer reviewed articles. Both types of sources can be found using any source.you can use Wikipedia for general information but please don't include wikis in the bibliography. Assess web content before including itinclude reputable, high quality content sites only. Please do *not* consult or include for-profit paper writing sites.

Anothersection is the Review of Research / Literature which once the bibliography is compiled, briefly review the research of JFK's inaugural address which is my desired topic. This section is where the writing is making it a bit voluminous. To make it rich and informative, include relevant writing from JFK's inaugural speech at this point, His biography, history & campaigns(issues in the campaign), cold war, who he is speaking to, other speeches by Kennedy, everything on nuclear power he talked about in the speech, the review can focus on secondary sources about the artifact and its moment in history; and it may also include a review of other critical works on the subject. This section is for reviewing secondary sources about it.You could say this speech is a political speech and here are some bases of the speech (stating the basis that makes it a political speech)

This section is the Arrangement, I sent it so you will have an understanding of where i am coming and what I would want from in terms of the writing.

In paragraph form, please make any general statements you wish about the overall arrangement.

Then, use Harvard outline form (see table below) to analyze the arrangement of the artifact.

The purpose of this is to read the piece slowly, logically, and with an eye to how it is put together.

  • In Harvard outline every section is a subdivision of the next largest section into at least two parts. Everything in the section is assigned to one of those parts.
  • The outline should have at least two major divisions (Roman Numerals I., II., etc.) and at least two levels of subordination beyond the major division into Roman numerals. These will be (A., B., C.,) and under that (1., 2., 3) and so on. This is a convention set by Harvard outline form and is required.
  • In line with and after the numeral, label each part briefly but descriptively.
  • In a third column after the label, give the "coordinates" of each section in numbered paragraphs and sentences.

Blank Table for Arrangement with example numbering

Outline number Title/Label Para#.Sentence# Coordinates
I. Put a descriptive title here for each section and subsection below. Put the para. and sentence # here that comprises the entire section, such as 1.1-5 to indicate Iincludes para.1 sentences 1-5.
A. A. and B. are subsets ofI. Every sentence in I. must also be in either A. or B. 1.1-3.
1. Arabic numerals represent the next level of subordination. 1.1
2. Note that A. has been subdivided in two parts and each completes the range described in the A. coordinates. 1.2-3
a. If you need to further subdivide the Arabic numerals, use small case letters. 1.2
b. 1.3
B. 1.4-5
II. Section II might include multiple paragraphs 2-6
A. These sections can be broken out as in the example under Roman numeral I. 2-3
B. 4-6

This is the inventionsection. please pick out specific arguments you discovered while examining how the speech (John F. Kennedy- Inaugural address) is arranged. This is the place where you will help analyze arguments in the speech.

  • Identify the kind of argument that is being made, if possible.
  • Apply the basic terms of invention. These may include enthymemes, arguments based on probabilities, use of example, appeals to emotion or ethos, and any fallacies you may have discovered while working on it.
  • There may be other critics who have addressed these same elements of the speech. please help cite them here but rely first on your own reading.

This section is for style, please once again, go back over the speech or artifact. In this section, write the style of the piece in general terms, accounting for its beauty or appeal. The style will be the figures of speech being used which brought the beauty of his speech. Note any significant overall effects.http://rhetoricalgoddess.wikidot.com/note:styleThen:

  • list any specific terms of style you find, both tropes and schemes. Identify the name of the trope or scheme.
