1. Begin with a title that accurately reflects the topic being investigated.
2. Provide detail about the topic and the social problem that you have selected to study.
3. Next, describe its importance in relation to the course.
4. Include a clear problem statement, which is a concise description of the condition to be improved upon.
5. Provide a brief vision statement that concisely brings together the ideal resolution to your social issue by sharing your own vision for an intervention/response to the problem.
6. End with a written discussion that clearly states why this topic is of interest to you.

You will select and review a minimum of four recent (that is, published within the past 10 years) journal articles that you will use to inform your research paper proposal, and eventually, the research paper itself. You will need to review many journal articles before deciding which four you want to include in your proposal and the final research paper. For this part of the assignment, all the articles you select must be from peer-reviewed journals. These cannot be articles from the course itself.

You must prepare a separate summary for each of four journal articles:

1. At the top of each page, prepare a full and correct bibliographic entry for the item, using the APA Style to format it.
2. Then, in two or three sentences, identify the main thesis, the primary focus, or the main argument of the article.
3. Next, present major points that the author(s) make in support of their thesis statement.
4. Summarize, in one or two sentences, the conclusions the author(s) draw.
5. Finally, in one or two sentences, describe how this article will inform your discussion of the topic you have selected for your major research paper.
