1- A filtration experiments on lab scale is carried out to estimate the collection efficiency
(depends on the material of construction) for a slurry filtration. The filter is cylindrical in
shape (D=10cm,L=30cm). The test results show that 99% of the solid particles
have been retained at a flow rate of 1m3min. Determine collection efficiency (factor).
A larger filter made form the same material is needed to retain 99.9% of the solids from
the same slurry. The flow rate through the cylindrical filter is 10m3min. determine the
dimensions of the filter.
Design the unit to filter 1000m3min of the slurry feed.
