1] A flywheel which is a uniform disk, has a mass of 100 kg and radius of 1.2 m. It rotates with angular velocity of 1200 rev/min. a) A constant tangential force is applied at a radial distance of 0.5 m. What work must this force do to stop the wheel? b) If the wheel is brought to rest in 2 minutes, what torque does the force produce? What is the magnitude of the force? c) How many revolutions does the wheel make in these 2 minutes. Note: The moment of inertia for the flywheel is != =mR. 2) Two painters are working from a plank 5.0 m long that is suspended from the top of a building by two ropes attached to the ends of the plank. Either rope will break when its tension exceeds 1 kN. Painter A (mass 80 kg) is working a distance of 1.0 m from one end. Find the range of positions available to painter B if his mass is 60 kg and the plank has a mas of 20 kg.
