1. A number of stations are sharing a common transmission medium, using the original version of ALOHA.Retransmissions based on acknowledgements and timeout are being performed by the LLC sublayer, employing GBN.The sending LLC of each station perceives the following delays:
(i) A queueing delay for each frame as the time from the instant the frame arrives at the LLC, and the instant the MAC sublayer transmits the frame on the shared medium,
(ii) A purging delay, starting from the same moment, until the moment that an ACK is received for that frame, and the frame can be purged by the sending LLC.
Discuss, for each kind of delay, whether that delay (averaged over all stations and all frames) is likely to be distinctly higher, distinctly lower, or similar, when the two following network conditions are compared:
(a) The GBN window of the LLC sender (same for each station) is small, such as 1 or 2.
(b) The GBN window is much higher, like 10 or 20.
2. Answer Question 1 again, but considering slotted ALOHA. Also compare each of cases (a) and (b) with the corresponding cases in Q1.
