1. A steam boiler tube is designed to produce a stream of saturated vapor at 200kPa from saturated liquid entering at the same pressure. At steady state, the flow rate is 0.3kg/min. The boiler is constructed from a well-insulated stainless steel pipe with a diameter of 5cm, through which the steam flows. Electrodes clamped to the pipe at each end cause a 12V direct current to pass through the pipe material. Determine the required size of the power supply, in kW, and the expected current draw, in amperes. (Ans. 11.008 kW; 917.3 Amp)
