Can A and B adopt the child of Y? If yes, what process should they take in order to complete the custody over the child. If no, why can't they adopt the said child. Explain.

Who should be liable for the boy's injury: the teacher, the school authorities, or the guilty boy's parents?

3. Dondon and Marie were happily married and blessed with three children. They lived in a gated subdivision in one of the posh subdivisions south of the metro. They also have a lot of businesses and memberships. In fact, Dondon is a member of several Cooperatives wherein members can loan funds but must pay monthly contributions thereto. One day, Sean, a close family friend who was also a member of the Cooperative, came to Dondon to ask for his name and signature to be one of the guarantors in a loan that he will be securing from the cooperative. The amount of the loan was P1,000,000.00. Dondon agreed and signed the documents. However, Sean defaulted in his payments so the Cooperative went to Dondon for payment as the only listed guarantor. Dondon told Marie that they should pay the amount from their community of property as failure to do so would affect their standing in the Cooperative and endanger their family's capacity to loan in the future in case of emergency. Marie, although partly agrees with the reasoning of Dondon, counters that her consent on him being a guarantor was not secured. Is the absolute community of property liable for the amount? Explain.

5. A and his friend B, both drunk, were fighting each other using bladed weapons in the middle of the road at around 6 a.m. As A was bigger, he overpowered B and eventually killed the latter. The police came and arrested A. After a protracted hearing, A was found guilty of homicide by the RTC and sentenced him to 13 years imprisonment. He appealed the decision to the Court of Appeals. While on appeal, C, the legal wife of A, filed a case for legal separation as she could not stomach that her husband was a killer. The Family Court granted the same. Was the decision of the Court proper? Explain.

6. Cynthia and Diana were members of the LGBT community. They lived together for 10 years without any problem. They even took care of Diana's nephew Jay who they treated as their child. Diana was the bread winner while Cynthia stayed at home and took care of Jay. They were also able to buy a condo unit, a house and lot and two cars. However, these were registered to them only as co-owners. Sadly, Diana died of stroke and with no Will. The brothers of Diana came with their lawyers claiming that the properties bought by their sister should belong to them. Cynthia was helpless as she knows she did not contribute a single centavo to the properties that Diana bought. Worst, Jay was taken to her by her true biological parents. Cynthia found a lawyer who argued that all properties she and Diana acquired should be presumed to have been acquired by their joint industry and owned by them in equal shares. Is the argument of Cynthia's counsel correct? Explain.

7. Xander Santos and Rian Tan were married on September 10, 2020. Two years before their marriage, Xander inherited P10 million from his rich father abroad and brought the same to the marriage. He later used part of the money to buy a House and Lot in Ayala Alabang and registered the same as follows: "Xander Santos, married to Rian Tan". That was the same format that was written in the Certificate of Title over the said property. The house became the family home. Is the house and lot conjugal or exclusive property of Xander? Explain.

8. George was a married man. But when he met Elle, a single woman working at a salon, he left his family and cohabited with her. Their relation bore them Chase, a baby boy. Five years after, George became a widower and he eventually married Elle in a civil wedding. George claimed that with his marriage with Elle, Chase became a legitimated child. Was the contention correct? Explain.

9. Spouses Alden and Bea have a son, Zion, 30 years of age, who needs support for his education in the USA after passing the Berkeley University School of Law entrance exam. Both Alden and Bea are only government workers. Although Zion was mature enough to find a work for his own expenses, they wanted him to concentrate on his studies first. Fortunately, Zion's other relatives are financially capable of giving that support. Should Zion be entitled for support from his relatives despite his age and capability to earn on his own?

10. Karina's birth certificate states that her nationality was Japanese. However, both her parents were clearly and undoubtedly Filipino citizens as shown by all their documents. She comes to you for legal advice. What legal procedure would you recommend in order to correct her birth certificate. Explain.
