1. Air at 20C flows with a velocity of 8m/s over a 2mx8m flat plate whose temperature is 140C Determine the rate of heat transfer from the plate if the air flows parallel to the (a) 8-m-long side and (b) the 2-m side. 2. A liquid food is being heated in a tubular heat exchanger. The inside pipe wall temperature is 110C. The internal diameter of the pipe is 30mm. The product flows at 0.5 kg/s. If the initial temperature of the product is 7C, compute the convective heat-transfer coefficient. The thermal properties of the product are the following: specific heat =3.7kJ/(kgC), thermal conductivity =0.6W/(mC), product viscosity =500106Pas, density =1000kg/m2, product viscosity at 110C=410106Pas. 3. Water flows in a pipe of 0.0475m inside diameter at a velocity of 2m/s. Calculate the heat transfer coefficient if the temperature of the water is 80C and 40C at the inlet and the outlet of the pipe respectively, and the inside wall temperature of the pipe is 30C
