1. Altruism is the prosocial action of aiding another person without concern for benefits to oneself. First, what is your opinion about altruism? Does your gut tell you it is a real phenomenon? Second, discuss (and cite) the evidence in favor of the existence of pure altruism. Is pure altruism possible, and is it possible to measure? Must cite references and use sources!

2. You will take one of the IAT tests. https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/ Once at the site, continue as a guest (bottom left option). You will be asked a few demographic items, but you will not be identifiable, nor will I see your responses. Once completed, answer these questions: What is implicit bias? Do you think the test accurately measures implicit bias? Was your performance consistent with your expectations; if so, why or why not? If you'd like to share, did the test tell you that you showed a bias? Is implicit bias important to measure, and can we use it to better our relationships and institutions? Why or why not?
