Also I can you make comments based on these two responses based on the same question please, 1) response one : As a consumer spending my hard earned money on a product, I would appreciate genuine leather if that is the product I am purchasing. I would purchase real leather instead of a fake vegan leather because its the real thing, better quality and I appreciate that about it. It matters to me because I like to know that I am spending my money on something that is genuine and great quality that will last me for a long time ahead. Vegan lather and all faux leather products do bother me in the sense that they are an imitation of the real genuine leather which can have bad affects on the enviornment. For example, during the process of creating faux leather, the materials main components are released into the air and become pollutants. This is so bad for the enviornment when you can just purchase the real leather where this doesnt happen during producing. Faux leather also leaks toxic chemicals into the ground when placed it landfills, and emits toxic gasses when burned in an incinerator. I own many things that are real leather and I have had them for a very long time. They are quality products and great material that holds up for awhile. A: 3) Response two: have recently begun learning a lot more about the damaging effect of the fashion industry, and have been trying to become more sustainable and thoughtful about my clothing purchases. Depending on the product, I might wear authentic leather. Since so many leather products are already produced, I believe buying second hand products is sustainable and not as harmful. I dont mind wearing vegan leather, so long as its well made, ethically made and comfortable. I would like to say it matters to me where its sourced, and it does somewhat, however I have no idea where my hamburgers come from. I still purchase Nike clothing despite their use of sweatshops. It would be hypocritical of me. Vegan leather is sometimes made with natural materials like pineapples, but commonly made from polyurethane.
