1. Apply Work Cells! Create only (3) Work Cell Load Charts (pages 8587 in text) - one for the leg, one for the cross member, and one for the weld nut. 20 pts. a. Assume that the leg design is being revised so that they are symmetrical and there will only be one leg design to produce. You can eliminate the 063002 part number. b. The additional drilled and tapped holes necessary for a symmetrical design will change the production rate drilling operation changes to 25 per hour, tapping operation changes to 30 per hour. c. Assume that the machines are 10' apart within the cell - which means it takes about 3 seconds to walk from machine to machine. d. Assume that it takes 10 seconds to unload a completed part and load a new part into each machine. This is valid also if a program needs to be changed within the machine controller. For simplicity, assume this on the saw operation as well. e. Delays between operations within the cell are eliminated. f. Assume material is stored in a rack within the cell no longer in the storage areas. g. Excel might work well for this, but hand-drawn on graph paper is fine. h. The cycle times for each workcell will be derived by completing the load charts
