1. Choose one content area from grade level (K-1). For example, Kindergarten Math or 1st grade Reading.

2. Select 2-3 standards from your grade level content standards. You can find the Georgia Standards of Excellencehere.

3. Once you have chosen your standards, dig into them to make sure you have fully explored what your students are expected to know, understand, and be able to do? Pay careful attention to the verb of the standard.

4. Finally, design an assessment that includes at least three ways you would assess these standards (for example, written response, multiple choice, etc). What types of items will you choose - and, more importantly, why will you choose those types of items? You will provide an explanation for each of the assessment types you choose.

Part I

List each of the standards you chose followed by an explanation of what each standard requires students to know, understand, and be able to do.

Part II

Describe how you would assess each standard with a detailed explanation of why you would choose this type of itemto determine what your kids know, understand, and are able to do in reference to the standards.
