1. Collect evidence. Many might agree that one of the more exciting age groups with which to work in a recreation setting is teens. Camps, city recreation and park departments, YMCAs, 4-H organizations, resorts, and other agencies often have teen specialists to reflect a commitment to providing leisure services for this demographic, yet are often challenged by teens' competing interests, such as technological entertainment, social media, and cool marketing. Contact a recreation agency in your community that includes teens as part of its service provision and interview the leaders. Also, investigate in person some of the programs and facilities (such as a teen center) to better understand this service area for the agency. The idea is to learn as much as possible about this age group and the agency's efforts to deliver recreation services to them.

2. Reflect on the meaning and relevance of the evidence. In summarizing what you have learned, discuss the results of your evidence collecting with classmates. What have they learned? How does all this fit together with what you learned? To apply this to an actual possible teen service in your chosen recreation agency, suppose you've been asked to make a blueprint for a "leader-in-training" program for teens who would serve as recreation aides.

3. Organize the evidence in a meaningful way. make a prospectus for a teen recreation leadership training program for your agency. How could teens be used to extend recreation leadership resources? How, what, and when should they be trained for these positions? Include in your prospectus the agency programs) where the trained teens would be placed, the length of the training (one or multiple days), the topics to be covered in the training, and the method(s) of delivering the training (lecture, hands-on, etc.).
