1. Define robbery. Discuss the element of taking and the element of force or threat of force that are required for the crime of robbery.

2. Suppose that Kris falls asleep in class and Timothy steal his textbook to sell back during finals week. Has robbery been committed? Why or why not?

3. Define burglary and discuss each of the elements that make up the common law crime of burglary.

4. Kitty breaks into Jocqua's house with intent to burn down the house because Jocqua is now dating Kitty's ex-boyfriend. It is 2 a.m. and Kitty, hearing a police siren, flees before she can set the fire. Has Kitty committed burglary? Has Kitty committed arson?

5. Most of us watch television on occasion. Maybe some of you have seen the Staples commercial. Basically, a family comes home, opens the front door, and discovers that everything is missing from their home except old computers... (thus, requiring a trip to buy a new computer at Staples.) The husband/father says.... "We've been robbed!) Think ---Hmmm?.... Any ideas about that statement?

6. Define arsonand explain the significance of knowing the difference between scorching and charring by defining each.

7. Define forgery. Give one example of intent to defraud and one example of intent to injure.

8. What is the difference between forgery and counterfeiting? Give 2 examples of forged items and 2 examples of counterfeited items that show the difference.

9. What does it mean uttering a forged instrument or uttering a worthless check? What is uttering and explain how it is a separate offense from the forgery itself?

10. Angelo goes to Mexico with his girlfriend and buys cheap jeans made there. He comes back to the U.S. and changes the label to say "Calvin Klein" and charges an exuberant price making a huge profit. Has he committed a crime? If so, what is the crime (common law?)
