LO1. 1. According to the US Census Bureau, in 2006 15.4% of the US population had no health insurance and in 2016 only 9.1% of the US population had no health insurance. According to our class textbook, in 2015, 55.7 % of the US population received health insurance through work. So the increase in health insurance coverage has been attributed to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Since the 2016 election the tax penalty on individuals who fail to have or purchase health insurance has been eliminated from the ACA.
We currently have a US congressperson advocating for Medicare for all despite these health insurance coverage improvements. Additionally, the US Supreme Court has upheld the constitutionality of the ACA,
