1. Economics of Agriculture: ( K6, A6, T 4, C3 Marks) A farmer is given 600 m of fencing. He is asked to fence land in one of three possible shapes given below: Fencing is only used for outer fencing. No fence is used for dividing the regions. Option A Option B Option C These are composite shapes that are made up of a rectangle in the middle and an equilateral triangle 2' semi-circle on each side of the rectangle. In the middle rectangle he plans to grow wheat which will give a yield of $10!sq. m prot. He is not allowed to grow wheat on the triangular and semi-circular regions. He has to grow Lentils in the triangular region and corn for ethanol in the semi-circular regions. Lentils gives yields a prot of $6isq. m and Ethanol yields a prot of $4 fsqm . For each option given above nd the dimensions of the field that gives him maximum prot. Page 1 of 3 2. Economics of Flying : ( K6, A6, T 4, C3 Marks) A plane has to fly from city A to city B. City B is located at distance of 900 km from city A in the direction of bearing of 650. There is a wind flowing from N 30 W with a magnitude of 40 Km/h. Plane can fly at 600 Km/h. in still air. There is not enough demand to fly from A to B directly. There are two options. Options are going through one of the cities C and D. In both options, flight stops at C or D for one hour. Option 1: Stop at C Option 2: Stop at D Location of C: 400 km from A | Location of D: 300 km from A at bearing of 350 at bearing of 1250 a) Calculate the ground speed for both situations. Remember there are two legs of journey for both options. b) There are 5 crew members on a flight. On average it costs $60/h for each crew member. Calculate the cost for the crew for both options. Round the time of flying to the nearest minute
