1. Edit the following paragraph to meet APA standards:

In my experience as a college student, it is very difficult to balance my responsibilities as a parent, my responsibilities at work, and meeting the unreasonable expectations of the professors of my classes. I'm sure many students feel the same. Classes are taught by many professors who have never had to walk a mile in the shoes of the modern student. I hypothesize that professors who have experienced hardships in their own lives tend to be more lenient on their students than those who have not.

2. Studies that have big sample sizes, 10,000 participants for example, have a lot of statistical power to find even the smallest effects. It means that even small differences or small patterns will be more easily detected. In some cases, those small differences or patterns are relatively meaningless in real life. On the flip side, studies with small sample sizes, 10 participants for example, have low statistical power to find any effect of one variable on another. In those cases, we sometimes miss important differences or patterns because the study was underpowered.

I'm curious what you would think about the situation below. Please share your thoughts.

As a counselor, Mindy works with people living with dissociative identity disorder. Knowing that this is a very small percentage of the population, Mindy is well-aware that a DID diagnosis is a rare event. Over Mindy's years of experience, she has noticed a pattern among her clients. She reads the literature about DID to see if she can find any research about this pattern that she's noticed. She found one study conducted a few years back that seems to support her observations, but the sample size was pretty low. If you were Mindy or her supervisor, what would your thoughts be about her observations, the article she found, and the situation in general?
