3. The extent and significance of "purpose" as identified in and through Me Terra and its integration into Unilever
4. His technical skills as a "food industry" leader
5. His involvement with others as a collaborator, partner, newly acquired CEO
6. His abilities as an innovator and entrepreneur

Use the facts, descriptions, and illustrations provided in the case to explain why you assess him as you do in each of these areas.

Given the facts of the Mae Terra case, describe the skills/practices and theories that you think are most relevant to the leadership work required in order to make the necessary decisions Borges is facing and to choose among conflicting values and outcomes. This will involve thinking back to your earlier readings on leadership as well as incorporating the ideas of Bendell and Little and Edmondson from the readings this week. [LO #1 and #3]

Prior to responding to the factors above, suggested steps to help you become more familiar with Borges as described in the case, include:

• Identify material from the case that tells you about Borges (who he is, what he values, what lies behind his actions).
• Look at what people say about him; what is the context for their observations and why does it matter?.
• Examine the key factual situations that contribute to the business issues being considered at the end of the case. Why did he make the particular decisions that got him to this point?
• What does he seem to prioritize?
• How does he work with others? (Does he need to be in charge? Does he seek out others' views or opinions?)
