There are many crucial system performance requirements for the MTC hiring system, I have chosen to focus on scalability as the MTC anticipates growth in the near future. Scalability is defined in the readings as the ability of a system to accommodate additional users or additional transactions. This is crucial for the new MTC hiring system as the main trigger for this new system is the anticipated influx of new hires. This means that in order for the hiring system to be high quality, it will need to be able to accommodate the amount of current users, as well as an influx of users. This means a high quality and scalable hiring system will run smoothly and efficiently whether there are 50 applicants in the system, or 500 applicants in the system.

Scalability also ensures that as there are more records and more users, the overall quality of the system will not falter. Consider the scenario, the new hiring system is running smoothly while there were 10 job applicants. However, when the company receives a new contract and there are 100 consultants needed for a quick job, the hiring system slows down tremendously compared to when they were only 10 applicants. This would mean that this hiring system is not scalable because the quality of the performance of the system went down as the amount of users and transactions increased. This would be an issue because as companies seek to grow they will also need to ensure that the systems they have in place are scalable and can grow with the rest of the company. Overall, scalability is a crucial aspect of the system requirements for that MTC hiring system because of the importance of future growth.

I chose to discuss reliability as one of the system performance requirements. The definition of reliability is the ability of the system to create and maintain the data correctly. Reliability is vital for any business because accuracy between accounts are important to not just the business but the clients. If MTC were to pull past records they would trust that the data they are pulling has 100% accuracy and they do not have to spend time to collect correct information. "Accuracy may be determined through measuring system error." (2020, Khalid, Kenza, Alain, etc.) Sometimes there are glitches or errors, but those errors are usually man-made, for example if an employee entered incorrect information into the system like a number. Reliability also starts from the first interaction and communication with a client, knowing they will receive correct information and knowing the high quality products helps the rapport of the company internally and externally.

Reliability would be important to MTC's Hiring System due to the dependably consistency of the process. The moment MTC receives an email, the hiring system will begin working, looking for specific key words in the resumes for high quality candidates. Only qualified candidate from the first round will reach the recruiter, at this point we know this potential candidate almost fits perfectly into the role MTC is looking for. The recruiter at this point ensures all information looks correct and verifies that this candidate does match the job description and selects candidates to be automatically sent to the hiring manager. After the hire, the newly hired will receive an automated email with the information needed after the phone call has been initiated. The hiring team will rely on the system to proceed to the next step without any issues, by providing candidates whose resumes fit the job descriptions MTC is looking for. Information will be accurate and the system will be able to maintain that information, safe and secured, in case it is needed at any given time.

As MTC works through the system development life cycle to implement a new Hiring System, a critical component of this will be ensuring the new system requirements address quality (how the system will perform) and security. Gathering these requirements from the team will entail ensuring the correct the scope, skill, and stability are identified. The new software must meet the needs and expectations of performance. Performance within the system requirements is the ability of the system to meet time or volume requirements (respond to user inquiry, update a database, or handle the workload). This could include speed of responses, throughput, execution time, and storage capacity (Bigelow, 2021).

Identifying performance needs of the new system will be critical for MTC's Hiring System success. To assist in building the system so that it is not too simple or complex, needs must be identifying in areas such as, what expectation there is for response time (how fast or slow will the program take user input and send request), the number of applicants the system needs to process on a given day (load test), how much storage space does the system requirement (memory). The system will also need to sort through available candidates and match them with openings within the company quickly (processing power). These requirements can be tested through Performance Tests with the intent of ensuring software required performance and if adjustments are needed, a report will be generated outlining needs. How the system performs with handling user inputs, processing, and suppling output can be the difference in hiring a candidate to fill a role and them being selected by another company who had a better performing software.
