Powerpoint presentation with appropriate visual resources. Mary is an experienced community worker on staff in the community centre where you both work and you are her supervisor. Mary has recently been given the task to assist a member of the community (Bob) who approached the community centre for assistance in establishing an advocacy group for people with mental health issues in the community. She has worked diligently with Bob to structure a plan of action for bringing the group into fruition. It was decided to call a community meeting so that consultation with those affected by mental illness in the community could occur. About 50 community members made up of people experiencing mental health issues and their carers were in attendance. The meeting was going well and, Mary and Bob were facilitating the community consultation process together. They were receiving encouraging responses from the community members and recording these for the report they would write in response to the ideas put forward at the community meeting. They broke the large group up into smaller groups and all was going well until two members of one small group began to argue. The argument became quite heated and Mary intervened to negotiate a way forward between the two community members. Unfortunately, this resulted in one of the community members storming out of the community meeting in an angry state. Mary has brought this incident to supervision for discussion. How will you respond to Mary?
