1. In 2014 North Korea launched a cyber attack against Sony Pictures in California. The attack was launched to stop Sony from releasing a movie called The Interview (an [awful] comedy staring Seth Rogan and James Franco about the assassination of the North Korean leader). The cyber attack resulted in the release of confidential information such as personal information about Sony employees, emails between executives and movie stars, salary information, and scripts for unreleased movies. The attack also erased information on Sony's network. Some estimates claimed that the attack cost Sony over $15million. Do you think this attack by North Korea amounts to a use of force, i.e. a violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter? Why or why not? 2. Norms are not like treaties or customary international law because they are not legally enforceable. Do you think a non-legally binding norm has value or are they merely a waste of time?
