1. In this question, we will analyze the differences between the weight of chicks reared in confinement versus reared on the open range. The data file Chick Weight.JMP contains data on ten families of chicks. In each family, two chicks were randomly chosen with one of the chosen chicks randomly assigned to be reared in confinement and the other assigned to be reared on the open range. The weights (in ounces) of all chicks were recorded after they fully matured. a. Explain why we should analyze difference in the weights of the chicks reared in the two different environments using paired inference. b. Use JMP to calculate the difference between the two weight of the chicks from the same family. Define Difference as OpenRange - Confinement. Copy and paste the 10 values from the data table on your answer sheet. c. Use JMP to find the mean and standard deviation of the difference of the weights of the chicks from the same family. d. Use JMP to find the five-number summary of the difference of the weights of the chicks from the same family. For the next two parts - If you conduct a hypothesis test to answer the research question, make sure to include the null and alternative hypotheses, test statistic, p-value and conclusion as a part of your answer. If you calculate a confidence interval, make sure to include the lower and upper bounds of the interval and the interpretation of the interval and use 95% confidence. e. Answer the following research question: Is there a significant mean difference in weight after maturity for chicks reared in confinement versus reared on the open range in this population of chicks? f. Answer the following research question: What is the population mean difference in weight after maturity for chicks reared in confinement versus reared on the open range in this population of chicks? g. Do you have any concerns about the normality assumption for the sample mean difference in this situation? Explain your answer.... ChickWeight - Distribution of Confinement ?
