(2) Given the definition you just wrote, identify a subculture in American society. It can be one that you belong to.(For example, I am from the French creole subculture of New Orleans.)

(3) Explain why the group you chose is a subculture. Use the components of culture discussed in the text on pages 80-86 to explain how your subculture differs from the dominant U.S. culture. Components of culture include norms, beliefs, values, sanctions, symbols, religion, among others. To be a subculture, these must differ in some way from the dominant culture in the United States and that's what you want to talk about.(In my example, I would say that creoles have a strong French Catholic heritage and our food cuisine is distinct in the U.S. This is different from the dominant English-speaking, Protestant American culture.)

(4) How do you think the dominant culture in the U.S. treats the subculture you chose? Why do you say this?
