1. Look up a support group and describe it- what is the purpose of the group, how often are meetings, where are they located, and what type of patient or family member might benefit from the group?

2. Attend a meeting of this group, either in person or virtually. Please ask permission to the group leader prior to attending, if appropriate. How did you feel during and following the meeting?

3. Do you think you would be able to take on the role of "the other?" How might this make you feel? In what ways did you think you might find similarities between yourself and "the other?"

4. Bunkers states "It takes courage to open our lives to others, to new ideas, strange customs, and unfamiliar health practices." How might attending this support group change your attitudes or beliefs about "understanding the stranger?" Did you feel this was a valuable assignment? Why or why not?
