1. Note that the price system exists as a rationing device because of our scarcity problem. There is not enough to go around, therefore it will go to those who can afford to pay. Since we have enough air for everyone (mostly) there is no scarcity, and that is why we don't have to pay for it. Most everything else is in short supply, so that is why there is a price. What happens in a society when some people cannot afford to pay the price for something, say like healthcare?
