1. Parlor was a social media site frequented by many on the conservative end of the political spectrum, including some radical groups and conspiracy theorists. While many simply chatted with like-minded individuals, for others, it was a gateway into radicalization and a place where some coordinated illegal activity and bragged about it after the fact. The site's security was not set up properly, so it was possible for anyone with the knowledge to access posts that had been set to private, the email addresses and other identifying information associated with online handles, download photos that had not had their metadata stripped, etc. Data from the entire site was copied and made publicly available shortly after the site was taken down by its owners. That data has been used to link people to posts they thought had been anonymous. Much of the photographic and video evidence of the January 6th attack on the capital came from that database. 2. Law enforcement typically needs to justify probable cause in order to search a person's phone, internet history, location data or medical information; but much of this information is collected by our phones, cars, bus/metro pass, every website we visit and every purchase we make with a credit or debit card. That information is bought, sold, aggregated into giant datasets and sold again, and many law enforcement agencies have been accessing data they would not have been able to obtain a warrant for this way, sometimes leading to criminal ch
