1. Read the paper on 'Teaching Experimental Design Techniques to Industrial engineers' which is uploaded as a pdf file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JJzNZ4KLApvB31hGlDT9xpbI2UDypXN9/view?usp=sharing (LINK TO THE PDF) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LAMIxJzZbR4ZcaI2X6_Hs27UBvz0WnOB/view?usp=sharing

a.Select TWO factors of your choice (must name them) from Table 1 given below. The paper calls them parameters which we call FACTORS.
Note: Wing shape FLAT means horizontal, angled 45 up means 45 degrees folded up. Use small paper clips (plastic is better).
Table 1.1 The Factors and Their Levels
2.Make helicopters based on the design chosen (the measurements will change based on your chosen two factors).
For e.g. if you chose Factors C & D, then you will need:
One helicopters with Body width (-) level which 20 mm and Body length (-) level which is 80 mm. You have to perform THREE replicates with each design. For the designs you need to perform the FOUR treatments (runs) for this experiment are generated in the table below. You have FOUR runs to do with each run triplicated.
3. Fill in your Factors and Levels that YOU SELECTED - Treatment conditions of the factors.
Here is the example we selected. Your table will be different depending on your factors.
Table 1.2 Treatment Condition of the Factors
4.Record the triplicate (three) data.
What is your data? The 'hang time' for the helicopter to drop from a given height. Once you make the helicopters drop from a height (same for all experiments) and time the drop in SECONDS (I assume you have a cellphone with time capability). Again, duplicate each run.
YOU NEED TO STATE THE APPROXIMATE HEIGHT OF DROP.
Caution: Be careful when you climb a step ladder or any other piece of furniture to gain height. I broke my arm few years ago! Get your kids, spouse or a friend to help you to conduct the experiment. The last thing I want to hear is "you #..%@&*....."

5.Calculate the MAIN Effects of your factor 1
6. Calculate the MAIN Effects of your factor 2
7.Calculate the INTERACTION Effects of your two factors
8. Create the SUMS OF SQUARES table for your experiment (see ppt slide #10)
9. What conclusions can you make at = 5%
10.Were there any uncontrollable factors (from early lectures) that you encountered? (Alcohol is NOT one of them!)
