Reflect on this course. Discuss how lifespan development connects to your future or current career. Which aspects of this course are most relevant and meaningful, and why?

Lifespan development is very relevant to my career path. I am a mental health therapist as of now looking to become a psychologist. I work with children also as a behavioral specialist. Lifespan development has not only open my eyes to new aspects and techniques of the development and mind and human but it has actual had me to incorporate some of what I've learned into my daily therapy routine.

Therefore, self-esteem is an important therapeutic target. However, there is disagreement about the direction of effects. Does low self-esteem cause problems like academic failure, depression, or aggression or does the experience of failure, for example, lower self-esteem (Baumeister, Campbell, Krueger, & Vohs, 2003)? Parents, teachers, and clinicians have often been advised to boost self-esteem directly. While this might be helpful in some cases, it can also be problematic without a clear understanding of pathways of action (Henley, 2018). I always target self-esteem with my youth and adults because with anxiety, depression, bipolarity and etc. do sometimes have a tendency to glide into issues with self-esteem. Low self-esteem can affect anyone. It can stem from childhood or develop through the different interactions when have as an adult.

In conclusion, I took mostly everything I learned from this course as informative. The adolescent to end of life break downs of what contributes to how we develop was meaningful because in the field I am it is important to know even the slightest of information. I work from ages 10-60 and the lifespan of a human no matter the age has bumps but with the proper help and knowledge those bumps can be made smoother to get over.

It was nice to virtually meet everyone throughout this course. Good luck to everyone!

Lifespan development connects to my future and my current career because a lot of what I learned in this course can help with the patients and clients I have. People go through different stages of life and each stage can come with its own issues. I really enjoyed writing the most recent paper we had and my research really helped me learn that socialization is very important growing up and is still important as we are older. I have always told my patients that people help people and involving yourself into groups is very healing. Now, with my research from that paper I can really tell them why immersing yourself into healing with others is very helpful in getting the best out of their treatment.

Reflecting on this course the information I have obtained for this course is the different stage of development. Learning the way human process, the change in adulthood. From young adults going to middle and older age of adulthood and dealing with life changes. Lifespan development explores how we change and grow from conception to death. This field of psychology is studied by developmental psychologists. Learning the skills to understand clients in my future field. Excited to apply the knowledge I have learn in this course an apply for the clients I will working with. This course have shifted my mindset even with way my husband and children process things. Life development was an interested and fun class for me.
