1. Review and choose 10 basic rights or obligations from sections found in the current Alberta Employment Standards Code. 2. Choose comparable rights and obligations found in the equivalent legislation in Ontario and British Columbia for each of the basic rights or obligations you have chosen. 3. Overall, you will have 10 rights or obligations, and you will set out each of them from Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia. 4. Have an outline setting out the right or obligation for each jurisdiction and set out what is similar or different for each of the sections chosen. 5. Provide comments on which jurisdiction you feel best deals with the issue, covered by the section, and why. You then should have at least 10 comments in total. 6. The outline should be made in point form, outlining all of the above. 7. You can find the legislation under www.Canlii.org. 8. Ensure that you are using the current version of each of the pieces of legislation. 9. Make sure to property cite each of the statutes and the sections you are analysing. Note that the textbook properly cites legislation so follow the format found in the textbook. For your critical analysis on particular sections of the Employment Standards Codes, you should also cite secondary sources such as journal articles, government web pages, or articles written by legal professionals. However, you must ensure that you cite the source of the information. Examples of secondary sources are journal articles, case studies and information sheets found on web pages. Typical sources of these types of writings are web pages from law firms who practice in the area, government websites, agency websites, non-profit websites and online journals. Therefore, one may use Google to find these sites and look for the discussions that are "on point" to the legal issues. Please ensure that you are looking at Alberta and Canadian sources.
