2. We have all followed the Federal Reserve as it struggles with why the economy is doing well regardless of the inflation rate. Economic theory prior to COVID always assumed that raising interest rates would adversely affect the economy and hence cause inflation to come down. That does not seem to be the case since COVID. Some suggest that the Federal Reserve is following "old" economic theories that may no longer be as valid as they were in the past. Others suggest that there are other factors at work and that it is these factors that counter the effort to use interest rates to control inflation and once these factors go away (e.g. government interventions) the theories of economics will again be useful. One might also suggest that the economic issues affecting healthcare have changed since COVID.
