1 The Work at Hand To apply the learning of the course at work, each student will select an area of the course content that is relevant to a specific issue/problem encountered at the student's work-place. The purpose of the exercise is to try to overcome the issue/problem using the learning from the course. 2 Steps to be Followed (Ideally)

First Step: The Challenge Faced a) Frame a problem (with data) encountered at work b) Articulate the problem so that it is clear to the reader and its effect evident

Second Step: Investigate the Problem a) Discuss the problem and its effect with relevant others, within or outside the firm b) Identify alternative ways of solving the problem

Third Step: Construct a Viable Solution using principles of Project Management a) Evaluate the alternative solutions from the second step b) Identify one solution for implementation that you think has a high probability of success

Fourth Step: Execute the Solution and Monitor Results a) Implement the optimal solution from the third step b) Check that the results are satisfactory c) Monitor the results over time
