There has been very little research done on the effect of background music on tests, thus I tested if classical, rock, rap background music or studying in silence had a positive effect on quiz scores. The experiment was done over four weeks with four regular Algebra II classes, and two accelerated Algebra II classes. The data revealed that every type of music had a negative effect on the quiz scores.
