1)- Using Baumrind's definitions, describe the parenting styles of your parents. Identify the specific parenting behaviors that you used to classify your parents in one of the four categories. Discuss the difficulties you had in classifying them. What effects do youthink your parents had on your development? What style of parenting will you use with your own children?

2)- Listen to a parent and young child in a problem-solving situation. Who is directing the conversation? Does the parent encourage politeness, expand the child's sentences to make them more complex, or repeat the child's ideas back to her or him? In what ways does the parent help in the child's problem solving and use of language?

3)- When you visit a park, and watch the children who are riding scooters and bicycles. How many are wearing helmets and following good safety practices? How might caregivers and teachers encourage children to follow good safety practices?
