1- WHat do you think of this?
Amazing presentation. The Burberry noose incident, as well as other similar incidents in the fashion industry, highlight the importance of ethical considerations and cultural sensitivity in the design process. Katy Perry, an artist, collaborated with the company on a spring collection. Due to negative feedback, two items from her collection were removed. The Nappa leather shoes had red lips that were overdone, a triangle for a nose, and big eyes; the design was reminiscent of blackface. The image has a history in fashion and evokes minstrel shows from the 19th century that made fun of African-Americans. (Angell, 2019) It is concerning that some fashion brands seem to prioritise the desire to be edgy and boundary-pushing over the ethics and values that should guide their actions.
Hi Victoria,
In regards to the response of the brands, you bring up a valid point about the sincerity of apologies and changes made in response to backlash. While apologies and changes to procedures may temporarily ease public outrage, they do not necessarily address the root cause of the problem. Instead of waiting for something bad to happen before taking action on ethics and diversity, brands need to be proactive.I believe it is important for companies to not only respond effectively to incidents like these but also to proactively promote and embody their values and ethics in their operations, marketing, and communications. This can help build a more authentic and trustworthy reputation for the brand and strengthen customer loyalty in the long-term.
What steps do you think fashion brands can take to ensure ethical considerations are integrated into their design processes?

2- what do you think of this?
The common things about all these scandals are the ignorance of racism, cultural, and social issues. It is important for brands to understand the importance of these things, and to embrace diversity. Marketers should view a campaign's creativity from a multicultural perspective. A lack of these things causes a bad brand reputation and customer loyalty. The first thing marketers can do is to build a diverse marketing team, which will help to bring in new views and a better understanding of different cultures. More ethically diverse marketing team will also help to point out any cultural insensitivity, which will help the brands to fall into a controversy.
Consumers are becoming more aware about ethical practices. With the rise of social media marketing campaign comes under public scrutiny. Before, it was easier for brands to get away with all of the unethical practices and controversies, but in today's time they face immediate backslash from people which lead to bad brand reputation, falling sales and even boycotting.
