10-1 Research Pre-employment Test Types Use Your Network Contacts for Research. Contact at least two companies in your field that are similar to your target employer and arrange a brief meeting with someone at each place to research the company's use of pre- employment tests. Make sure the person understands that this is not a request for an inter- view. Follow the guidelines for conducting a Career Network meeting in Chapter 6, as well as these steps. During your meetings, ask your contacts to describe the following: 1. Types of pre-employment tests 2. How the test answers are used to select employees 3. What they recommend as ways to prepare for these tests Take notes of any information you find useful. As always, act professionally and thank the people who help you.
