In our personal lives, so many of our decisions are financial in nature as well. Our society of easy credit and immediate gratification teaches us that we can have anything we want not, but the long-term consequences of those actions can be destructive to both our companies and our own families. As long as we see the finances that come through our hands as our money, we tend to spend those dollars in a manner that benefits us, at least in the short term. But history shows time and time again that money does not bring happiness, or contentment either in our work or our home. Scripture teaches that true contentment comes from recognizing that we are only stewards of the finances that we touch; if we understand that God owns everything but trusts us to be a good steward of the finances he gives to us, we will be far more content and happier. This reflection discusses the five principles of money articulated by Ron Blue and which are seen in a different format from a number of different financial advising ministries including Dave Ramsey and Crown Financial Ministries.
