1080kg of material containing 98.2% wood fiber and 1.80% impurities (plastic, metal, etc.) is fed to the mixer every hour. This mixer feed is composed of a fresh feed stream and a recycle stream of rejected pulp productions. The water added in a proportion of 3.5kg water for every kg of raw paper material in the mixer. The pulp then moves to a filter, where the impurities are removed. When the pulp is molded and fed through the oven, all of the water is removed from the pulp products. Assume that 6.5% of the pulp products exiting the drying oven fail to pass quality control and are recycled into the mixer feed stream. Determine the following unknowns. Component mass flow rate of wood fiber (pulp products) leaving the plant = kg/hr Component mass flow rate of impurities leaving the plant = kg/hr Total mass flow rate of the fresh feed stream = kg/hr
