1.1. An element of an orthotropic lamina made of T300/5208 carbon/epoxy material is subjected to a positive off-axis shear stress, xy, at an angle =45 as shown in Figure Q1(a) below. Determine the value of the off-axis shear stress xy that would cause failure according to the maximum stress criterion. Strength values can be found from Table Ql below. 1.2.
