1-2 COMPANY NAME: UNITED TECH

Last 12 months: Stocks

Find stock returns and risk of your company over the last 12 months and compare against that of the market, the S&P500 (using ETF Ticker SPY). Stock return is measured by both capital gain yield and dividend yield. Risk of a stock is measured by standard deviation of daily stock return.

Go to Yahoo Finance (http://finance.yahoo.com), download adjusting closing prices on your company and the SPY ETF for that of the last 12 months on a monthly basis for 10/01/2017 - 10/31/2018.

Calculate the monthly arithmetic average returns and monthly sample standard deviation.

Annualize the ave. return =((1+monthly arithmetic average)^12)-1

Annualize the ave. standard deviation =monthly standard deviation*(SQRT(12))

Note: An example of excel functions for SPY using different time frame has been posted to Moodle as a reference.

Speak to how your company has comparatively performed to the market overall and be sure to seek to provide brief explanation where appropriate.
