12. PRODUCT MIX PRIORITIZATION WITH CONSTRAINTS LINEAR PROGRAMMING: Windbreakers, Inc. manufactures ackets. The Windy and Gale jackets are manufactured in the same plant-both require an automated sewing machine for assembly. There are 3 machines that can be run up to 20 hours per day, 5 days per week (1,200 hours combined per month: 20 hours per day x 5 days per week x 4 weeks per month x 3 machines). The demand for both jackets exceeds the capacity of the 3 machines (i.e., there is one production constraint or limiting resource). It takes 3 minutes of sewing time to complete one Windy jacket and 2 minutes of sewing time to complete one Gale jacket. The contribution margin per unit for the Windy jacket is $8 and for the Gale Jacket is $4. Assuming only the single production constraint (limiting resource) described above, how much of each product should be produced? a. b. In addition to the constraint described above, the completed jackets are inspected and labels are added before packaging. Forty workers are required for this operation. Each of the 40 workers works 35 productive hours per week; thus, 5,600 hours are available per month for inspecting and packaging. It takes 15 minutes of inspection and packaging time to complete one Windy jacket and 5 minutes of inspection and packaging time to complete one Gale jacket. How much of each product should be produced now
