13 This is an IMPORTANT part of your project- If this is NOT included in your project, your project grade cannot be more than a 60!! Again, please watch videos for help with your project!! You will be analyzing data collected either with correlation coefficient and/or chi square. (Please look at criteria chart and rubric to ensure you know what it is I want). Once completed, what were some noticings, conclusions you came up with and other things that might have skewed your data Step 1: Choose at least 3 relationships- would you use a chi square table or correlation coefficient to determine if there is a relationship? For example, in mine, I wanted to know if inflating grades in high school leads to overconfidence in college (that's just 1 thing I was looking at). For that one, I may use the correlation coefficient and compare numerical grades in college to numerical grades in high school (both are numbers so I can do that)- or If I decided to use the letter grades in high school and compare it to the letter grades in college, then I would have to use chi square because they are qualitative data- I do NOT have 2 sets of numbers. YOU MUST DO THIS 3 TIMES Step 2: Think of what may be skewing your data and how the information you collected could be relevant for you or someone else moving forward. For example, my data could be skewed because in high school, teachers are more apt to make sure students are doing homework, checking on them, etc (along with parents) and by the time you get to college, you are basically on your own as far as responsibility is concerned- this might be why one does worse in college (maybe) Any implications would be to either tell high schools (based on data) that they should stop inflating grades because it is not helping students OR to keep doing what they are doing because students are doing great in college (again, based on data).
