During the road repair project, the road construction crew accidentally ruptured a gas line and electrical lines that run below the roadway. As a consequence, First Capitol Drive was shut down in front of Jerry's Sporting Goods store. The repairs took 4 weeks to complete, During that time, access to Jerry's store was completely blocked due to the work needed to repair the ruptured gas lines and electrical lines. Jerry has reopened his business, but the City of St. Charles refuses to compensate Jerry for his lost business during the time access to his store was blocked.
