Micromegas is a novella by Voltaire, and tells the tale of an enormous alien (Micromegas) from the planet Sirius and his almost as enormous travel partner from Saturn, who happen to visit earth and interview some humans. Micromegas states: I have seen mortals who are considerably inferior to us, and I have seen some who are considerably superior. But I have never seen any who did not have more desires than they had real needs, and more needs than they had possibilities of satisfaction.
