16. Paul Gett is a well-known, wealthy financier living in the city of Torris. Adam Wade, Getts friend, tells Timothy Brown that he is Getts agent for the purchase of rare coins. Wade even shows Brown a local newspaper clipping mentioning Getts interest is coin collecting. In fact, Wade is not, nor has ever been, Getts agent. Brown, knowing of Wades friendship with Gett, contracts with Wade to sell a rare coin and Wade disappears with it. On the date of contract payment, Brown seeks to collect from Gett, claiming that Wades agency made Gett liable. Gett does not deny that Wade was a friend, but he claims that Wade was never his agent. Is there an agency relationship between Gett and Wade?

Select one:

a. Yes, there is an agency based on agency by estoppel.

b. No, there is no agency in fact and Gett did not do anything to cause Brown to reasonably believe that Wade was Getts agent.

c. Yes, Wades statement caused Brown to reasonably believe that Wade was Getts agent.

d. Yes, even though there is no agency in fact, Getts actions did cause Brown to reasonably believe that Wade was Getts agent.

e. No, all agency relationships must be created in writing.
