Journal Reflection

Requirements:

  • Keep a journal as per (a) in-class discussions and experiences; (b) your readings of the book chapters; (c) your assignments; (d) personal reflections in class, outside of class, while at home, at work; (e) your struggles and celebrations in the course etc.
  • Take 2-5 minutes out of every day to this. Set up a regular schedule, at a time that makes sense to you (the beginning of day... theend of day... the middle of day...).
  • How and where you decided to journal is up to you. Be cautious, do not wait until the last minute!
  • Select a media for your journaling. This could be a bound book, sheets of paper, or an electronic device etc.. Note that whatever you select, I will need to see several real evidence of the day and time you wrote your journal entries. I am cautioning you about this from now. If you cannot provide enough verifiable evidence, you could fail this part of the assignment. I will be randomly asking persons to show me their journal entries, leading up to the submission of the assignment.
  • Having kept the journal for weeks, at some point you will begin to write your assignment. You will be required to share aspects of your reflections over the weeks that you pursued the course, up to the point of preparing the assignment. In your reflection you must speak to your:
  1. Connection(s) to OB theories, concepts, practices that were taught in class. This means that you will need to show your awareness and an application of a minimum of three (3) areas of the OB materials we covered in the class.
  2. Critical Thinking. - What have you learned as a result of this assignment and others you have done so far in this course? What insights do you have about yourself and you competence? How have the OB concepts and theories that you learned become applicable to your personal and professional life? What mindset or behaviours are you now aware of that you have changed or would like to change? What have you learned as a result of this journaling exercise?
  3. Future learning. - Now what/ so what; what will be your plan of action towards your future? Please be sure to use concept and terms we have used in the course to say what you will do for your future and that of others.

Your paper MUST include excerpts that you wrote in the journal to support different aspects of what you wrote. Please research the APA 7th edition to see how to use verbatim quotes and excerpts to support your work. Please note that I do not want to read your entire journal, aspects of what you wrote must support your work throughout the paper. Please follow the headings you have been given, and also respond in the same order, as is set out above (1, 2, and 3).
